From Grid To Home: Bringing 12 Years of UK Grid Experience into Home Energy

Following Solar & Storage Live 2026 in Birmingham, Swatten by Sieyuan is bringing 12 years of UK power-sector experience closer to homes and businesses. The proposition is not simply to add another storage product to the market, but to apply grid-side engineering discipline - safety, reliability, system integration and long-term operation - to the rapidly evolving hom

e-energy environment.

Sieyuan has served the UK power sector for 12 years, working with customers including National Grid, SSE, HVSS and ILOS. That experience has built familiarity with the expectations of a mature power market, from engineering quality and system reliability to lifecycle service and long-term technical support.

Through Swatten, that experience is now extending from the grid side to behind-the-meter energy systems.

From grid infrastructure to home energy, the engineering priorities remain the same: safe operation, reliable performance and systems designed for the long term.

UK Home Energy Is Becoming More Integrated

The UK’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan sets out a pathway to 45–47 GW of solar capacity, 23–27 GW of battery capacity and 10–12 GW of consumer-led flexibility by 2030.

At household level, the Warm Homes Plan aims to upgrade up to 5 million homes by 2030, including solar deployment on up to 3 million additional homes and further growth in heat-pump installations.

Together with EV adoption, heat-pump deployment and flexible electricity tariffs, this is changing not only how homes consume electricity, but also how they generate, store and actively manage it.

Rooftop solar, battery storage, EV charging, heat pumps and household loads are increasingly becoming part of one connected energy environment. The role of residential storage is therefore shifting from simple solar self-consumption towards coordinated home energy management.

Designed for Real UK Homes

For mainstream residential applications, Swatten’s 3–6 kW single-phase hybrid inverter is designed around practical UK installation conditions, where roof orientation, available PV area and household demand can vary significantly from property to property.

A 50 V ultra-low start-up voltage supports operation under lower irradiation, while up to 330% DC oversizing gives installers greater flexibility to make better use of available rooftop PV. At less than 20 kg, the inverter is also designed for easier handling and installation.

The objective is straightforward: maximise the usable value of rooftop solar while keeping system design, installation and commissioning practical for installers.

Connecting Solar, Battery, EV and Heat

As household electrification increases, the challenge is no longer simply adding more devices. It is coordinating them intelligently.

Swatten’s Real All-in-One platform integrates the hybrid inverter, battery, BMS and intelligent energy management within one architecture, with AC EV charging capability as part of the wider home-energy ecosystem.

Rather than treating solar, storage, EV charging and heating as separate systems, the platform is designed around their increasing interaction within the home.

For the UK market, this transition can be summarised as:

Solar + Battery + EV + Heat Pump + Smart Energy Management

For homeowners, the benefit is greater visibility and control over onsite generation and major electrical loads. For installers, deeper integration can reduce system complexity across design, commissioning and long-term service.

Smart Energy Management for Flexible Tariffs

Flexible tariffs are also giving software a larger role in home energy. As electricity prices vary by time, the value of a battery increasingly depends on when and how it charges and discharges - not simply on how much energy it can store.

The UK’s Smart Secure Electricity Systems programme is creating a framework for smart devices such as EV chargers and heat pumps to respond more easily to electricity-price signals.

Swatten supports Time-of-Use and Dynamic Pricing strategies, together with remote monitoring and OTA software capability, enabling the system to coordinate solar generation, battery operation and household demand around different electricity-price periods.

In this environment, energy management software is becoming part of the core energy infrastructure of the home rather than an optional add-on.

From Residential to Small C&I

The same shift is visible beyond mainstream residential systems. Larger homes, farms, commercial buildings and small industrial sites increasingly require storage platforms that can scale without changing the basic system architecture.

Swatten’s three-phase high-voltage hybrid inverter portfolio spans 10–50 kW and supports modular expansion for larger applications, allowing power and battery capacity to grow with project demand.

Selected models also support EV charging, SG-ready heat pumps and fast on/off-grid switching, extending the same integrated-energy approach from residential applications into small C&I projects.

Bankability for Long-Term Confidence

Energy-storage systems are long-life infrastructure. For homeowners, installers and channel partners, product performance therefore needs to be supported by the financial strength, engineering capability and service structure of the company behind it.

Swatten is backed by Sieyuan Electric, founded in 1993 and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange since 2004 under stock code 002028. This gives Swatten access to more than three decades of power-industry engineering experience and an established global industrial platform.

Sieyuan has also been recognised by BloombergNEF as a Tier 1 energy storage manufacturer, further reflecting its established position in the global energy industry.

In the UK, that foundation is reinforced by 12 years of local power-sector experience. For Swatten, the value of this background is practical: applying grid-industry expectations around reliability, system engineering and lifecycle support to residential and commercial storage, backed by technical service, remote diagnostics, software upgrades, spare parts and warranty support.

This is the practical meaning of Powered by Sieyuan - bringing grid-side engineering experience into the distributed energy systems used by homes and businesses.

As UK homes become more electrified, the next stage of residential storage will be defined less by battery capacity alone and more by how effectively solar, storage, EVs, heating and flexible tariffs can work together.

For Swatten, the opportunity is to support that transition with integrated energy management and the engineering discipline developed through Sieyuan’s long-term work in the power sector.
